BANSURI (FLUTE)​

The duplex sits on a corner parcel in a quite serene residential neighborhood of Bangalore, defined by a local main-street in front of the site.​ ​ The design really brings the outside in, maximises immediate and distant views and encompasses the benefits of natural light and natural cross-ventilation. ​ ​ Exterior materials include a cement particle boards alternating with stone cladding, aluminum windows, and cast-in-place concrete site work.​ ​ In essence with the name of the duplex, like the ‘flute’ the void spaces are played out in symmetry to the built hence creating a beautiful harmony. This site within such a built up urban context is unique. Escaping the bustle of contemporary life and the noise of traffic down alleyways lined with trees and roofed with leaves, the house strives to achieve a serene and peaceful living. ​
